From the time she was in grade school, Leah knew she wanted to be a lawyer. She didn’t know much about what being a lawyer meant at the time, but she was determined to make it happen. She eventually made her way to the University of Alabama School of Law in 2009. Leah quickly learned that there were several directions she could take as an attorney. Her path became obvious within her first year – she wanted to help people. While in Law School she interned with the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida’s Office of the Public Defender, the Animal Welfare Institute in Washington DC, the DeKalb County Child Advocacy Center, and her Law School’s Domestic Violence Law Clinic. Upon graduation, Leah was awarded her school’s Public Interest Certificate and Dean’s Community Service Award. She was also inducted into the Order of the Samaritan.
After graduating, she went to work for the State Attorney’s Office for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida. There, she gained valuable courtroom experience as a prosecutor, trying both misdemeanor and felony cases. To Leah, the most satisfying thing about being a prosecutor was assisting victims through the criminal court process and ultimately obtaining justice.
Eventually, Leah and her husband, Ryan, traded the beach for the mountains and moved to Colorado. After arriving in Colorado, she continued her pursuit for justice, but this time, in the civil arena. She took up the fight for injured people, holding large corporations accountable for their actions.
Outside of work, Leah enjoys exploring Denver, travelling, and spending time with her family and friends (and of course her two cats, Phillip and Strudel).
